Arsenal have failed to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since Arsene Wenger took over as manager in 1996. Next season will be Arsenal's first outside Europe's top competition since 1996-97, which was Wenger's first in English football, and they must instead take part in the Europa League. So, Arsenal need to strengthen their squad to qualify for Champions League next season.
Here comes the Top 7 Transfer Targets of Arsenal for 2017/18:
Kylian Mbappe
Arsenal are in the race to sign Monaco star Kylian Mbappé.
The young forwad has drawn interest from several sides, with Real Madrid and Manchester City the clubs with the strongest links to the player so far. But with Arsene Wenger under contract again, it seems the Gunners are willing to offer up €100 million to bring the youngster to Emirates Stadium.
Riyad Mahrez
Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez is waiting for Barcelona to make an offer as he looks to leave the 2016 Premier League champions
. Mahrez is reported to have an offer from Arsenal, along with interest from Chelsea, but he is keen to play in La Liga and is a target for Barcelona. But Wenger is a great admirer of Algerian playmaker and he is keen to lure him to Emirates Stadium.
James Rodriguez
Arsenal are keen on signing £50m-rated Real Madrid star James Rodriguez this summer in a move that would smash the club’s transfer record.
Rodriguez wants to leave the Bernabeu after falling out of favour under Zinedine Zidane last season. Arsenal broke their club transfer record to sign Mesut Ozil in a £42.5m deal from Madrid in 2013 but they’ll need to break it again if they wish to bag Rodriguez this summer.
Hakan Çalhanoğlu
Arsenal are aiming to beat Premier League rivals Chelsea to the signing of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.
Chelsea have previously shown an interest in Calhanoglu, but now Arsenal and Lazio are looking to agree a deal in the region of €20 million (£17.6m) with Leverkusen.
Alexandre Lacazette
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has held talks with Lyon over a move for striker Alexandre Lacazette.
The veteran coach was in France this week with chief executive Ivan Gazidis to meet Lyon president Jean-Michael Aulas to agree a fee for the France international. And the Gunners are hopeful a contract worth £200,000-a-week will tempt Lacazette to move to north London.
Arda Turan
Turkey international midfielder Arda Turan has agreed to join Arsenal from Barcelona.
Despite Turan's willingness to move to the Premier League club, the two sides are still negotiating over the transfer fee with Barcelona holding out for £26 million (€30m) for the 30-year-old.
Aleksandr Golovin
Arsenal are aiming to finalise the £10 million signing of CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin.
Golovin has previously been mooted as a target for Chelsea, but is now wanted by Arsenal, who could allow him to head straight back to CSKA on loan.
